Sharps on time at Millmoor

Ian Sharps, the former Tranmere Rovers defender was interviewed before his recent return to Prenton Park with the Millers by Rivals.net (rovers rearguard.com)

When asked about his first six months with Rotherham United he said that he had enjoyed it. 'It was a bit daunting starting on minus ten but we are playing some good football. We`ve a decent team and decent lads.

'It was hard to adjust at first and we were living in a hotel as it took a while to get a house sorted out.

'There`s a good squad at Rotherham and we have done really well, it`s just the last few games we have slipped up. Most of the lads who signed in the summer had points to prove so in a way we are all in the same boat. We all need to prove that what happened elsewhere probably shouldn`t have happened. The manager told us all about the minus ten when we signed and we have to plug away and see if we can climb the table. From my point of view, our aim is to stop up.`

Speaking about young striker, Will Hoskins, he said 'He`s a flair player and has some great skills. I think he could easily go as far as the top of the Championship and with a bit of luck even higher. He`s a valuable asset to us but if he makes the decision to move then he will be brilliant for the team he signs for.`

Talking about his time at Prenton Park he said, 'I left Tranmere under a bit of a cloud, but that`s gone now and I can remember the good times there. I remember in one of my first games being absolutely baffled by Teddy Sherringham. He totally out-fought me but it was part of the learning curve. I think Prenton Park is one of the best stadiums in the division.`

Long way to go to be as good as Macca or Swailes in their heyday....but ive a load of confidence in Sharpy.

I think he might be one day, Zip. Also heard a little rumour that Swailes might be looking for a new club - but it is only a rumour
