'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Knill's targets

Rotherham United boss Alan Knill today talked about the transfer window and the need for him to strengthen the Millers squad.

Will Hoskins and Lee Williamson are the obvious targets for other clubs and 2 offers have already been turned down for each player.

Hoskins value is rated at over £500.000 and this has been shown with both offers exceeding that figure.

On the subject of bringing in players Alan Knill told tonight's Sheffield Star,
'We have been looking at targets for January since October,'
'A number of phone calls were put in last week and I'm hopeful we'll be doing something soon.
'We have young players here attracting attention from bigger clubs so we must be doing something right. We've had inquiries and offers regarding two players and another two who have come in and done well have had people looking at them.
'It's good for us as a football club and good for the players - they know they are going to get coached and we will give them the opportunity to go on to better things.'

Knill added that he wouldn't feel obliged to rush into signing new players as Rotherham are without a game now until January 13th and an home fixture with rivals Chesterfield.
As for Williamson and Hoskins, he is still unsure if either will be leaving and if so when.
'It may take the whole of January but, in Lee's case, it is down to him because he could stay on if he wishes,' said Knill.
'He's in a position where he can stay here, where he enjoys it, and see out his contract and then go.
'But all the speculation is no surprise and you expect offers for someone who I regard as the best midfielder in the division and for a player who has scored 16 goals.
'At the end of the day, the most important thing is Rotherham United FC and our survival this season and that is paramount.'

If you can keep hold of Hoskins you've every chance of staying up. Without his goals however.....!!!
