'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Knill talks tonight

Alan Knill said he was not looking for potential signings tonight when Radio Sheffield caught up with the Rotherham United manager at the Keepmoat Stadium.

'We are playing Doncaster Rovers later this month and it was an ideal opportunity for me to come and look at them. They are a good passing team with good movement up front.'

He said his search for new players was still on-going and he was possibly looking for two strikers but it was difficult getting players out of clubs.

'I was at a game last night and am going to two games tomorrow.'

'It will be difficult to replace Will Hoskins and Lee Williamson - Lee, in my opinion, was the best midfield player in this division. But the money we got for them will secure the finances of the football club.

'The next forty-eight hours are crucial. I am waiting for a phone call tomorrow about a player and I would hope to have one in by Thursday - but you never know in football, you keep having the rug pulled from under your feet. All I can do is keep asking and knocking at doors. If we saw a player we wanted, even if we had to fetch him and drive him here ourselves, we would.'

He said that the track record of Rotherham United is good, 'we bring in players, make them better and then they go onto better things.'

When asked about how much money he would have to spend he said 'I am meeting with the board tomorrow. If they say 'yes' I can have some money, that is good, if they say 'no' I will just have to get on with it.'

I trust Knilly's judgement on new players implicitly. Damn good track record so far.

he must be allowed some money after all that he has done for the club

I was surprised when he said that about the money to be honest - how can they not give him money!

with what knilly has done so far he deserves to be given some money to strengthen the side AND hopefully it will be sooner rather than later
