Head 2 Head Lions V Millers

Head 2 Head Lions V Millers

Saturday sees the 28th League meeting between Millwall and Rotherham United at the New Den.

Earlier this season Millwall delivered a killer blow to the Millers with a late winner after being 2-0 down.
Will Hoskins and Ian Sharps put Rotherham 2-0 up after 40 minutes, but then Sharps went from hero to villian as he gave away a penalty in the closing seconds of the half.
He brought down Danny Haynes, who brushed himself down and took the penalty to give the Lions a glimmer of hope.
Rotherham looked to have held off, but just 4 minutes from time Haynes hit his second goal to level matters.
Things got worse for the Millers as Alan Dunne headed a last minute winner for the Londoners.

Last time out at the New Den in January 2005,it was Rotherham who picked up all 3 points as we came back from an early Alan Dunne goal to win the game with goals from Martin Butler just before half time and a Rob Scott header after 69 minutes.

The previous Millers win at Millwall was the memorable 6-0 victory on the opening day of the season in August 2002.
Darren Byfield hit 4 goals and Martin McIntosh and Chris Sedgewick chipped in with a goal each to send the travelling Millers into amazed delerium.

Rotherham's only other victory at Millwall was at the old Den back in April 1981 and Rod Fern's goal took both points to put the Millers on their way to the 3rd division championship.
