Although he only played for Rotherham United for one season immediately after the War, this man was a very familiar face down at Millmoor for years beyond his playing days.

ALBERT WILSON
Born: Rotherham, 28 January, 1915
Died: Rotherham, July, 1998
Career:
Stafford Rangers;
Derby County 5/36;
Mansfield Town 7/38;
Crystal Palace 1/39;
Rotherham United 6/46;
Grimsby Town 7/47
But for the outbreak of war, Albert would have had a much more illustrious career because he had just started to make his mark at Crystal Palace with six goals from 20 games when league football was brought to a halt.
When it resumed he went straight into the Rotherham United team at outside right scoring on his debut in a 4-1 win at Tranmere Rovers on August 31st, 1946.
The speedy winger scored in the next two games as well and he continued to score on a regular basis as the team rattled in 114 goals in 42 league games.
After a spell at Grimsby Town 'Sheeny', as he was nicknamed, returned to Millmoor where he spent many years as groundsman.
1946/47: League apps 38 goals 19 Cup apps 3 goals 2

Total career record.

League apps 75 Goals 26
