RUFC - Warney Will Do His Best To Keep Adeyemi and Ajayi

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne is hoping to be able to keep Cardiff loanees Tom Adeyemi and Semi Ajayi after their loans finish at the end of the season.

Adeyemi joined the Millers in mid-August and has made twenty appearances scoring five goals, the last one coming against Huddersfield on Tuesday night. Ajayi moved to Rotherham at the end of January playing every game since with his first goal also coming on Tuesday night.

'Adeyemi's been out ill for a few weeks and I thought he looked a bit rusty on Saturday but he played really well on Tuesday night,' Warney told Radio Sheffield. 'He proves his worth because he drives through his lines, scores goals and tries to back up the striker. And that's how I want my midfielders to play. He really brings something to the team.

'And I think Semi's been a legend. If I'm honest I hadn't seen him play a lot and it was a bit of a punt but after the first five minutes he played at Forest I knew he'd fit the bill a treat. He's done exactly what we've asked him to do and is a great lad. He enjoys playing here so hopefully his future will be with us.

'I think he's an ideal fit here. If I'm part of the recruitment system then young, fit, hungry players is what I want.

'And I'd love Adeyemi to stay and we will do everything from a club point of view to facilitate that but realistically I don't know. I know there are other teams in the Championship who want a goalscoring midfielder. So I know the difficulties that lie ahead but from behind the scenes we will do everything we can to keep him. But, it will be Tom's decision and he will have choices.'

Warney said that they are preparing for next season saying, 'We've been having two conversations for weeks now - one if we're lucky enough to stay in the Championship and one if we don't. When we signed players in January we had the conversation that they had to be able to play in both. Ideally we are recruiting for the Championship but we aren't naïve enough to know that we need to keep an eye on League One.'
