Rotherham United manager Alan Knill gave his account of Saturday's 4-0 thrashing by Millwall to today's Rotherham Star.
'The realism is that we are in a relegation fight - it is a fight and you have to fight to get out of it,' said a despondant Knill.
'You can look as pretty as you like when you've got the ball but you'd better stop people from playing and make the right decisions. If not, then you're going to be in trouble.
'Up to the first goal there was nothing in it. Then there's poor decision-making to concede a corner, they score from it and all of a sudden we went backwards.
'It takes men to get out of it and strong characters and if you haven't got that then you are in trouble. So, reality really has kicked in.'
Knilly then spoke about his feelings for the fans who travelled down and witnessed the shambolic performance.
'I am disappointed for everyone who travelled to the game and for everyone associated with the football club,' he said. 'That was not a performance that warrants the name of Rotherham United.'
'We've got some new lads here and they must think 'what the hell is going on here?'. On paper, we look a decent team but the reality is we are struggling.
'It's easy to hide behind the confidence thing but we are struggling for strength of character at the moment. We have players of character but need them to shine.
'I've made it clear that I want a central defender. When Lee Williamson and Will Hoskins went, the priorities were elsewhere, but now we need someone in at the back.'
Rotherham face an in-form Doncaster Rovers next Saturday in what im sure will be a fiery first visit to Doncaster's new Keepmoat Stadium.
