RUFC - Millers Talking To Former Striker?

Rotherham United have held talks with representatives of former Miller Chris O'Grady says Andy Giddings of Radio Sheffield

The striker, now thirty-one years old, joined the Millers in January 2007 going on to make over fifty appearances.

Originally signing a two-and-a-half year deal, Chris left in May 2008 under a 'bit of a cloud' when it became known that he was the only member of staff who refused to defer wages when Rotherham went into administration. Many Millers fans immediately condemned the striker although later a lot realised that it's not easy bringing up a family with no money coming in - saying that everyone else did it.

From Millmoor Chris went to Oldham, didn't really settle and had a few loan signings before signing a two-and-a-half year deal at Rochdale in January 2010.

He then went on to spend two years at Hillsborough, then went to Barnsley who he left when they were relegated from the Championship to join Brighton in the summer of 2014. Chris had loan spells with Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest before spending last season with Burton Albion where he made twenty-six appearances, his only goal coming in December against Rotherham.

If this move happens how would you, as a Rotherham fan, feel? He doesn't fit the criteria Manager Paul Warne tells us he wants and he only got the one goal last season.

What are your thoughts?

I'd be fuming wouldn't you he left us in the crapper and a 31 striker. This has blackstock number 2 written all over it

2018/2019 season league 2 fixtures Rotherham vs Stevenage Rotherham vs Coventry Rotherham vs Grimsby. Get used to these people a 31 year old striker who has scored only 5 goals since 2013 joining Rotherham hello mr warne if you get 10 strikers like that it still wouldn't add up to 25 a season

I'd be really surprised if this is right you know. Warney must know how the fans feel about him - and, as you say Chris M just five goals last season - we need someone scoring treble that

We will see. I will hold my judgement until window shuts but if all we get is free players then we will know we are in trouble.

That's more or less what Chris P was saying isn't it.

Not exactly signing all freebies sends a bad message to the fans "owner don't care" personally I think we should be able to get everything we need with a 2 million or less budget, another defender rawson or that Coventry player an attacking midfielder an young striker. Ball on a free then a couple of championship/prem loans

I'm hoping we won't be getting many loans in - three maybe or four to cover when needed.
18/06/2017 16:08:00
I don't mind loans so long that if we loan young talent we get a sole right to buy clause added into them
