RUFC - Hammy 'At This Time Everyone Is Rumouring'

Rotherham United's First Team Coach Matty Hamshaw says he is pleased that the signings are starting to come in.

Speaking to IFollow Matty said, 'It's always a difficult time when players are on holiday but I think what you'll find is that the next one to two weeks will see a lot more things happening.

'We are starting to get the ones in who were near the top of our list which is great news.

'Really this process started in January so it's not a case that any name that comes up we're looking at. It's been a long, drawn-out process and a lot of work from everybody. All the first team staff have been on the 'phone to ex players, managers who we've known to get character references and we've walked out of a few meetings with players we didn't think were right for this football club.

'It's that time of year when everyone is rumouring, I've seen a few high profile names on Social Media that are a bit laughable. It's important that Rotherham United fans know that we are looking to bring in the right players for this club.

'At this moment in time it's about getting in the ones who are high on our list. Offering contract out at the end of last season we made plans if people stayed and plans if people didn't.

'It proved last year that we probably didn't have the right back-up when needed and we've got to make sure the squad we are putting together at the minute is fit and ready for the battle.

'Once the pre-season starts then I'm sure the fans will see a group of players that is far improved on what we saw last season, and who are going to be fit and ready for the challenge this season.'
