RUFC - Millers Win Second Friendly Out In Austria

Rotherham 2 Soproni 0

Rotherham United kept up the winning streak on Saturday when they beat Hungarian side Soproni in their third pre-season friendly.

Having already beaten Austrian side Floridsdorfer by seven goals to one the Millers beat Soproni two-nil yesterday afternoon with goals from new boys Jamie Proctor and David Ball.

Although the Millers started well it was Josh Emmanuel, making his first start since joining Rotherham on loan from Ipswich this week, who had to be aware and clear on eight minutes from a Soproni corner before Semi Ajayi did the same minutes later. But for the Hungarian sides 'keeper a Ryan Williams cross would have reached Jon Taylor and been an easy knock into the goal for him.

But on twenty-five minutes the Millers were ahead when Williams headed down for Jonson Clarke-Harris who in turn got it to Proctor who put the ball into the net. Clarke-Harris and Proctor had other chances before the end of the first half which finished one-nil to the Millers.

The start of the second half saw Joe Newell replace Lee Frecklington before some nice work from Will Vaulks found Jamie Proctor who fired over the crossbar.

David Ball and Kieffer Moore replaced Proctor and Jonson Clarke-Harris with Moore coming close to scoring in his first minute on the pitch.

The hour mark saw a number of changes for Paul Warne's side with Richard Wood, Dominic Ball, Jerry Yates, Darnell Fisher and Darren Potter on for Jon Taylor, Semi Ajayi, Ben Purrington, Josh Emmanuel and Ryan Williams.

Yellows were shown to Kieffer Moore and a Soproni player before Richard Wood went down under a challenge and thought he should have had a penalty.

On seventy-eight minutes the Millers doubled their score with a superb free-kick from Joe Newell finding David Ball who smashed the ball into the net to make it two-nil.

So a win against Parkgate last weekend and two wins out in Austria sees the Millers back in England this week when Tuesday, 18th July sees Warney send two teams out on the road - one to play Gainsborough Trinity and the other to take on Alfreton Town.
