While with the Owls he had a number of loan spells including a three month spell with the Millers as back-up for Andy Warrington, although he never made it off the bench.

May 2012 saw him move on to Chesterfield, once again mainly playing back-up 'keeper before he joined Wigan Athletic a year later on a three-year deal. A loan spell at Ashton Gate at the beginning of 2016 saw him pen a two-and-a-half year deal with Bristol City.
