RUFC - Warne Thought Millers Deserved At Least One Point

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said the game at Peterborough yesterday went the way he had expected it to go - except for the result.

Speaking after the two-one defeat the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield, 'Prior to the game I thought there would be goals in the game, I thought it would be a three-two or four three and I wasn't disappointed in that.

'In the first half we had an opportunity where it looked like we'd scored three times and we hadn't. They hit the crossbar and it was a pretty even match.

'I wasn't best pleased the way we played in the first half, I didn't think we played with enough intensity, but I thought we played the second half a lot better but a couple of individual errors massively cost us two goals.

'We got back into the game and I thought we were the only team who were going to win. I made attacking substitutions to try and go for the game. Going forward we were a force and every time we got a set-piece it looked like we would score and the lads kept going until the very end.

'I was pleased with the performance and we made enough chances to win the game three times over, it's just a shame we didn't take them. The lads are disappointed but they have to take responsibility for what they do. A calamity second goal has cost us again and it's something I'm going to have to deal with.

'The Rotherham fans were brilliant and loud and clapping the team off means I think they appreciated a really exciting game but we are, unfortunately, on the wrong end of a two-one scoreline which I think is a bit harsh on us and I think we deserved at least a point.'
