RUFC - Warney A Proud Man Tonight Despite Loss

RUFC - Warney A Proud Man Tonight Despite Loss

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne was hugely proud of his Millers team this evening despite being knocked out of the EFL Cup by Huddersfield Town.

The Millers put up a gallant fight against the side in second spot in the Premier League with Warney telling Radio Sheffield, 'You can see how well we played by the response our fans gave us.

I made a number of changes and the lads who came in did really well and, apart from the ten minutes at the start of the second half, they should be really proud of their performance.

'I was hugely proud and I thought we were outstanding. I'm really proud the way the lads took it too them but it's disappointing we are out of the cup and I feel a little bit cheated.

'We've had a disallowed goal which was definitely a goal which was disappointing then Jono (Clarke-Harris) missed one from a few yards out which looked an absolute sitter and their 'keeper made a great save from Kieffer Moore.

'I'm going to go in and see the referee and ask about the disallowed goal but he's got some good eyes if he's seen something none of us has seen.

'I saw the shirt pull from where I was so it was definitely a penalty for them and we are frustrated with that. And it was a massive lift for them and gave them a bit of a boost. Then for their second they cut inside which I'm not pleased with.

'I thought we deserved something out of the game but, unfortunately, tonight wasn't our night.

'The way the players performed tonight they are entitled to knock on my door and say 'why aren't I playing'.'
