RUFC - Warney 'It Was A Good Nights Work'

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne couldn't have been anything but delighted to see his Millers team score five goals at the New York Stadium for the second time this season tonight.

Speaking to iFOLLOW after beating Walsall five-one, Warney said, 'It was a good nights work in poor conditions.

'We probably didn't play as well footballing wise as we have but I'm happy to get five goals at home making it three wins on the trot.

'Although we scored a lot first half (four) we missed a lot as well. We didn't start too badly in the second half, they got a goal and we had a nervy ten minutes. You could feel the tension in the crowd and I thought we lost our way a bit.

'They've got to stay confident all the time. When they do take two touches and they do pass the ball around we are a really good team. I just need the lads to believe in themselves and realise how good they can be.

'It's disappointing conceding a goal but I'm not going to let that cloud the day.

'Before tonight Walsall were only a point behind us and you could see in pockets of the game how good they can be.

'I thought all my subs had a real positive effect when they came on and I think, as a team goal, the last one was my favourite. Joe Newell showed his class, got it to Fordey (Anthony Forde) who sent it to Bally (David Ball) who kindly stepped over it for Frecks (Lee Frecklington) to rifle it in in front of the kop.

'The fans have been really good with me and I'm trying to bring a brand of football which everyone likes and excites and that scores goals.'
