RUFC - Warney Defends His Strong Reserve Side

RUFC - Warney Defends His Strong Reserve Side

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told iFOLLOW that he doesn't agree with the trend that none of your main players should play in the reserves.

'I don't see the point in not playing football matches,' Warney said. 'If there's a chance to play in a football match why wouldn't you?'

The Rotherham Reserves travelled to Doncaster on Tuesday afternoon, beating Rovers Reserves four-nil and had a number of 'first team' players in the starting eleven - Richard O'Donnell, Josh Emmanuel (who was coming back from a toe injury), Semi Ajayi, Anthony Forde, Joe Newell, Alex Bray, Jerry Yates and Jonson Clarke-Harris, with Ajayi, Forde and Newell being subbed during the game

'Playing is much better than training,' the Millers Boss carried on. 'We had a really strong side out and the lads played really well. And their attitude is spot on and we are proud of them.

'All the staff went over to watch them because we want to see the lads play in a team and compete for a place. Every time they play in any team here they are representing me and the staff and it's crucial that they play at that level.'

Totally agree - your players always need game time to be ready when needed
