RUFC - Another Win For Millers Reserves

RUFC - Another Win For Millers Reserves

Rotherham United Reserves 1 Grimsby Town Reserves 0

A young Rotherham United Reserve team recorded another win of the campaign this afternoon with a second half Josh Kayode strike being the only goal of the game.

The first chance of the game fell on ten minutes to the visitors when Ty Rhys Paul-Jones tried his luck from twenty-five yards out but the shot didn't bother Laurence Bilboe in the Millers' goal. But just minutes later Grimsby were unlucky not to open the scoring when A Trialist for the visitors left Bilboe beaten but saw his header come back off the woodwork to safety. The hosts first real effort came around the twenty minute mark when Darnell Bailey-King found the head of Akeel Francis who tried to find Kuda Muskwe but the Grimsby defence did their job and got the ball away before the Millers striker saw a header go off target moments later. Paul-Jones brought off a great save from Bilboe before Francis tried his luck with a header which only found the side-netting.

The Millers brought on Josh Kayode for the start of the second half to replace Jack Osborne. Laurence Bilboe was soon in the action when A Trialist made him get down well to save before Town's 'keeper did well to save from Kuda Muskwe. After a bit of head tennis and a few half shots at goal the Kayode finally beat the Grimsby 'keeper and defence scoring on the fifty-second minute. Bilboe made a brave save from centre-back Jack Keeble before Darnell Bailey-King saw a shot from distance hit the side netting. Ten minutes from time Revarnelle James came on for Akeel Francis. Tom Maguire had the last shot of note when his effort from the edge of the area looked to be going in until it took a wicked deflection and went out.
