RUFC - Warne Taking Positives From Tuesday Loss

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said that although he wasn't happy with the defeat to Chesterfield on Tuesday there were some positives to take from it.

'It was disappointing to lose to the sucker punch right at the end of the game,' Warney told Radio Sheffield, 'but it did give me the opportunity to get a few different lads on the pitch, a couple of the young lads played, and we came out of the game unscathed. So they are positives.

'The young lads play in the Reserves and train all the time but it's never the same as playing in front of a crowd or playing at the stadium.

'Semi (Ajayi) hasn't played enough recently so it gave him a run out. He's been unlucky because going through pre-season he was probably my favourite defender wise. But I want him to be more communicative and a bit louder. He's been unlucky in that when he made an error it cost us a goal. I needed to change it and now he's got to be patient for a chance and if I see a dip in form of one of the other two then he'll be back in. He's a great pro and has been training well

'And we had Will (Vaulks) who played the whole game in centre midfield. So in that respect this competition is good and gives me the opportunity to rest virtually my whole first team.'
