RUFC - Warney 'We Looked Good In Periods'

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne thinks that his team should have taken something from last night's game at Wimbledon.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the three-one defeat, Warney said, 'Maybe a bit more game management and we'd have got a draw. We looked good in periods of the game but not for long enough.

'The first ten minutes was really hectic and we didn't get any control on the play then they got a goal which was definitely stoppable. Then the rest of the first half we huffed and puffed without creating a great deal.

'But I thought the lads responded to what I asked them to do at half-time in the second half. Nothing seemed to be happening for Willo (Ryan Williams), it wasn't his night, so I took him off and put Joe Newell on who I thought was probably the best player on the pitch and he got that worldly goal.

'It looked like it would be us who got another goal so their second goal was against run of play then there was the calamity at the end.

'Tonight we weren't good enough to stop their goals, the third one being particularly disappointing. I've had a bit of a hissy fit about the second goal because you shouldn't let people inside the pitch and the first goal saw the runner put it inbetween my two centre-halves and slip it in. I'm obviously not happy with any of those goals.

'Although we weren't at our best I think we deserved something from the game. The away team aren't here to entertain but I am disappointed because I thought we would pick up points today.'
