Ref on Postponed game at Millmoor

Mr C Oliver should have been refereeing the match last night between Rotherham United and Swansea City at Millmoor.

But, because of ice at the railway end of the ground (the away end) the game was postponed, just an hour before kick-off.

'I had no choice but to call the game off,' he told Radio Sheffield.

'At 4 o'clock we had a pitch inspection and both managers were happy with the state of the pitch and I gave the pitch as playable.

'But the temperature, unexpectedly, dropped dramatically at 6.30 and we had another pitch inspection and because of player safety I had to call the game off.

'And I am sure,' he added 'that neither manager would have liked it if they had lost a goal to a slip.'

the temperature unexpectedly dropped was he the only person who hadn't seen the forecast for minus temperatures all over the country. its the away fans I feel sorry for and also I am sure a few exiled Rotherham fans would of made the trip.
