RUFC - Warney Says Millers Deserved Point

RUFC - Warney Says Millers Deserved Point

otherham United Manager Paul Warne said that the draw with Doncaster Rovers in the early kick-off this afternoon feels like a win.

Speaking after the one-all draw at the Keepmoat this afternoon, Warney told Radio Sheffield, 'I thought both teams looked nervous but I thought we were the better team in the first half and created more chances and Woody (Richard Wood) should have scored.

'They (Doncaster) had a good fifteen minutes in the second half and controlled the game and we had to change our system and I threw the kitchen sink at them.

'To score so late on it feels like a bit of a win. But I think we got what we deserved.

'Our performance more than merited a point and the togetherness in the lads when they kept going. When it fell to Bally I thought he we go then Jono hit the post, I thought we had enough chances to get something from the game and I'm really pleased we have.

'It's a good feeling to get a point at your local rivals so late on.'

There was a bit of a 'tado' as we say in South Yorkshire on the touchline after the Millers equalised with Warney saying, 'It was probably my fault really.

'They were saying we'd over run the time and I was fighting my corner saying your ball boys aren't even giving the ball back.'

Their ball boys didn't move to get the ball back in play and at one point Millers 'keeper Richard O'Donnell had to climb over into the stands to collect the ball for a goal-kick. Not only that, if a certain Donny player hadn't decided to shake hands with everyone on the pitch when he was subbed maybe, just maybe, we wouldn't have had time to score the equaliser?

The Millers were missing goalkeeper Lewis Price this afternoon who dislocated his finger on Thursday in training. After a scan it appears Price has broken his finger.

Jon Taylor was subbed in the second half after taking a whack to his already injured knee.
