RUFC - View From The Opposition - Shrewsbury Town

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne thought his side deserved something from Saturday's home game against league leaders Shrewsbury Town.

But his former team mate Paul Hurst couldn't have wished for anything else but a win for his Shrewsbury Town side.

Speaking after their two-one win at the New York Stadium Hursty told Radio Shropshire, 'It's a great three points and I'm proud of the players.

'We were accused of time wasting etc but realistically, we all know that we aren't going to rush to take kicks and things after the sending off, which I was very disappointed with, but I've never known a ref wanting to rush us like this one.

'I wasn't particularly happy with some of the things that were going on out there, the red card when it looked like their player needed a stretcher but was up running about when they needed to get a goal and I think the penalty was soft, although he (Beckles) did go into the challenge. There was the Shaun Whalley incident when he's going into the box and yes we get a free-kick but there was no yellow card.

'I felt our shape was really good today. Yes, we conceded from a set-piece but that was probably us being too honest getting men into the box instead of sticking close to their men.

'Rotherham had a late goal last week to get a draw and this week they were on the other side

'This is a difficult place to come with eleven or ten men and I'm delighted for the players with the effort they put in and for the fans who were behind us today.'

Asked about his time with the Millers Hursty said, 'I had a fantastic career with Rotherham. Leading into the game people have looked after my family extremely well. The ovation I got from the home fans was very nice and warming.'
