RUFC - Warne 'We Were Difficult To Break Down'
Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said he was 'really proud' after his side came from one down against Blackburn Rovers to get a point this afternoon at the New York Stadium.
Speaking to iFOLOW after the one-all draw, the Millers Manager said, 'I thought the lads played really well today and we were difficult to break down.
'There was a goalmouth clearance in the first half where the lads all threw their bodies on the line and I thought the second half was a really good open game.
'I didn't think in the first fifteen minutes of the second half we had enough affect so we changed it and put Jono (Clarke-Harris) and Newelly (Joe Newell) on who I thought both had a massive impact straight away.
'We got lots of corner and free-kicks and I thought it was going to be just one of those days so if we'd come off losing one-nil I'd have still been proud of the team. But we got the goal late on and, at times, I thought we were going to win it. I put Semi (Ajayi) up there in a three and took Woody off to allow us to play two for two at the back and it worked.
'Blackburn are the best run in the league, they haven't lost since October so for us to battle back to one-one was great. They've got different qualities to us but I thought we had more energy and pace today where they probably had a little bit more control on the ball. But I thought we went toe-to-toe with them.
'The fans were brilliant today. The atmosphere was electric. Blackburn brought a lot which makes an atmosphere, makes our fans sing. They got behind the lads and you could feel that today.
'I think the lads have gained a lot of confidence and there were some really good performances although there's some tired legs in there now. But we can have a few days off now and when we come back Frecks (Lee Frecklington) and Tayls (Jon Taylor) should be back, Darren Potter won't be far away and we can start the new year in good fettle.'
