RUFC - Proctor Putting A Smile On Everyone's Face

Rotherham United forward Jamie Proctor is stepping up his rehabilitation and has took the steps on grass today.

The twenty-five year old, who joined the Millers at the beginning of July last year, was involved in a collision with Charlton's Chris Solly in August which resulted in him having to have a knee operation keeping him out until the end of the season.

'Everybody has been lifted because we've seen Jamie Proctor with a pair of football boots on,'Assistant Manager Richie Barker told Radio Sheffield earlier today.

'Jamie is a really popular member of the group and the players have supported him all the way through. When he made his first steps on the grass with his boots on a lot of the players went out and watched him do it and gave him a big cheer.

'He's come in every day which is a difficult thing to do. And today was the first day he's put a pair of football boots on since the day he was carried off the pitch. Mentally that's a bit thing and to see him smiling again has made us smile.'

Saying they are pencilling Jamie's return for pre-season, Richie said, 'If football had a fairy tale ending it would be that he'd come on at Wembley in May and score the winner.'

Although Jamie hadn't been with the Millers long, hadn't played many games, I think it's fair to say he soon became a fans' favourite amongst the New York faithful and has been sorely missed, so it's great news that he's on the mend.
