RUFC - Towell 'I Want To Achieve Something Every Day'

Rotherham United fans have been hoping that the Millers would put in a bid for Richie Towell at the end of the season when his loan from Brighton ends.

But, unless Rotherham get into the Championship that might not be possible.

The midfielder joined the Millers on the last day of the summer transfer window and has made twenty-eight appearances scoring three times, but speaking to the Irish Independent the twenty-six year old says that he really wants Championship football - with Championship wages.

When he was with Irish side Dundalk, Richie said he would only leave there for Championship or higher football but now playing in League One the Irishman explains, 'When I said I wouldn't go to a League One team, it was purely a financial thing. I was earning good money at Dundalk and I didn't want to move my family and then have a financial burden where it would be difficult to support them.

'But when Brighton came in it was a no-brainer. Now I'm playing in League One but Brighton are still paying my wages.'

Richie says that everything he does is for his daughter, Meadow, so she can have a better life as she grows up.

Saying when he first joined the Millers people thought he was 'angry' Richie explains, 'I seemed to be moaning the whole time. And the gaffer was telling me to calm down. But I just wanted to win. I don't want to be someone that's just middling, that's just existing. Every day, I want to achieve something.

'I'm not doing it just to say I play in England. I'm doing it for a purpose and want to do it as well as I can. I think that's why the Gaffer sees how much I put into every game and every session. He can see my desire.'

South Yorkshire Bragging Rights Go To The Millers

Rotherham United's fighting spirit did them well this afternoon after they came from one down in the first half to win the South Yorkshire derby with Doncaster Rovers two-one - but boy, did they leave it late!

Joe Mattock was back in the starting line-up for the Millers with Michael Ihiekwe, who had replaced him last week, nowhere to be seen. Rovers also made one change with Ben Whiteman replacing the injured Luke McCullough.

It was a scrappy start to the game and although Rovers
