RUFC - Millers Boss Pleased With Palmer

RUFC - Millers Boss Pleased With Palmer

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told iFOLLOW that Matty Palmer is exactly what he expected him to be when he signed him.

The midfielder singed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Millers last month from Burton and made his debut last weekend in the win over Wimbledon.

'I want my midfielders to be athletic, young and forward thinking. I think he did really well although he did tell me that he tired at around the seventy minutes mark. That's fair enough as he probably hasn't played as much first team football as he'd have liked to have recently.

'I think there were some classy touches from him on Saturday and he's a young lad who will get better.

'I think it was a bit of an eye opener playing on Saturday as we do but the longer he's here he'll see how we like to play and will play a big part in this club going forward.

'He's a good little footballer and we're really pleased with him.'

To say he was thrown in a little at the deep end I thought Palmer had a good game - didn't do a lot wrong. OK there was the miss but he wasn't on his own doing that. I liked what I saw of him.

South Yorkshire Bragging Rights Go To The Millers

Rotherham United's fighting spirit did them well this afternoon after they came from one down in the first half to win the South Yorkshire derby with Doncaster Rovers two-one - but boy, did they leave it late!

Joe Mattock was back in the starting line-up for the Millers with Michael Ihiekwe, who had replaced him last week, nowhere to be seen. Rovers also made one change with Ben Whiteman replacing the injured Luke McCullough.

It was a scrappy start to the game and although Rovers
