RUFC - View From The Opposition - Scunthorpe

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne waspleased with his sides win away at Glanford Park yesterday saying he thought they could have scored more goals.

But Scunthorpe Manager Graham Alexander wasn't impressed with referee Graham Salisbury's failure to give them a first half penalty after he claimed Millers' 'keeper Marek Rodak brought down Ivan Toney in the area.

Speaking to Scunthorpe's Official Site, the Iron Boss said, 'I felt an opportunity to get back into the game was taken away from us which opened us up in the second-half to try and get back into the game and the second goal was on the counter-attack. It was a stone-wall penalty. The goalkeeper hasn`t touched the ball and the player is inbetween the ball and the defender. He flattened him. If we`d scored it, it would have been one-one at half-time and we could have settled everything down and played with composure.

'We took a suckerpunch in the first-half, conceding a goal from a long throw then went a bit gung-ho in the second half because we wanted to get back into the game.

'It was a game where the breaks helped the away team rather than us, but it`s what we had to deal with today and to be fair to Rotherham, I thought the two centre-halves defended their box exceptionally well. They were very strong and powerful. But I can`t remember Gillo (Matt Gilks) having a save to make in the first-half at all.

'It was an undeserved result, because I felt we played well today.'

South Yorkshire Bragging Rights Go To The Millers

Rotherham United's fighting spirit did them well this afternoon after they came from one down in the first half to win the South Yorkshire derby with Doncaster Rovers two-one - but boy, did they leave it late!

Joe Mattock was back in the starting line-up for the Millers with Michael Ihiekwe, who had replaced him last week, nowhere to be seen. Rovers also made one change with Ben Whiteman replacing the injured Luke McCullough.

It was a scrappy start to the game and although Rovers
