'If It's Football, It's Vital'

March 13th in Millers history.

In stark contrast to yesterday's results, the Millers have had an abysmal run of results on March 13th over the years.
Rotherham only enjoyed 2 wins out of 14 competitive games played on this day over the years.

It is also the anniversary of John Buckley's sickening head injury against Plymouth in 1993 following an accidental clash of heads with Plymouth defender Gary Poole.
John spent several days in a coma following the accident and was forced to retire at the relatively young age of 30.

Millers 2 victories on this day, were firstly a 5-3 win over Middlesborough at Ayresome Park in 1964-5 season.
Albert Bennett netted an hat-trick with the other Millers goals coming from Brian Tiler and Robin Hardy.

Secondly was a 4-0 victory, again away from home but this time at The McCain Stadium Scarborough in 1999.
A debut goal from loan player Phil Whelan, followed by hits from Paul Hurst, Paul Warne and Leo Fortune-West gave the promotion chasing Millers a great boost against rock bottom Scarborough.

The defeats included a 2-0 defeat at Leicester in a FA Cup 5th round replay in 1968 as Rotherham looked to reach the quarter finals for the first time ever in front of a massive crowd at Filbert Street of 41,856.
This gate was just 5,500 short of Leicester's highest ever attendance.

Finally, last time out on this day was in 2004 when Rotherham lost 1-0 at Derby County's Pride Park Stadium after a 61st minute winner by Paul Peschisolido.
