Head 2 Head, Millers V Cherries

Head 2 Head, Millers V Cherries

Even stevens between Rotherham United and Bournemouth, with 7 wins each since their first meeting in 1968.

Last time out was on Valentines Day last year, and it was The Millers fans who went home loved up following a 2-0 win.
Martin Butler headed home the first goal on 58 minutes, and this was followed on the hour by a cracker from midfielder Lee Williamson.
Butler failed to add to his earlier goal by missing a penalty 10 minutes from time, but The Millers, boosted by arguably the best performance of Stephen Quinn's loan period at Millmoor, took the points.

The most famous game between the 2 sides came in October 1972 when the South coast side won 7-2.
Bournemouth's Brian Clark in only his second game for the club scored 4 times, and against 3 different keepers to claim some sort of Football League record.
Debutant, Alan Groves added 2 more and Micky Cave hit one.
United's Carl Gilbert had a very mixed evening, as he scored 2 but conceded 3 during his deputy Goalkeepers role following an injury to regular Keeper Jim McDonagh.

On March 6th 2001 Rotherham beat Bournemouth 3-1 to record their 6th consecutive home win, with goals coming from Alan Lee (45 mins)and a brace from Mark Robins (51 pen, 79).
James Hayter got a 89th minute consolation for The Cherries.

Bournemouth's last win at Millmoor came in a Friday night fixture in February 1993.
A Chris Wilder penalty for Rotherham was countered by Bournemouth goals from Brian McGorry and Paul Wood.
