March 29th in Millers history

March 29th has proved to be a largely rewarding day for Rotherham United over the years.
17 games played, with 10 wins and 4 draws.
However the 3 defeats have come in the last 3 outings.

Last time out was a 2-1 defeat by Walsall at Millmoor in 1997.
2 first half goals from Walsall's Kyle Lightbourne (24) and Adrian Viveash (33), sealed The Millers fate, although Andy Hayward hit a late consolation a minute from time.
This left The doomed Millers in 23rd position in division 2, 11 points adrift of safety with just 7 games left.

Rotherham's last point on this day was earned following a goalless draw at Millwall in 1985.

Our last victory on March 29th was in 1980, when a solitary goal from Steve Winn was enough to beat Brentford at Griffin Park.

The most notable game on this date came in 1961.
Rotherham United became one of the first ever League Cup finalists following a 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town in the League Cup semi-final 2nd leg at Gay Meadow.
Don Weston scored the historic goal in front of 16,722 fans.
The Millers had won the first leg at Millmoor 3-2 to reach the Final on a 4-3 aggregate.
