Head 2 Head, Millers v Gills

Gillingham have the lions share of victories in this fixture over the years with 18 wins to 13.
At Millmoor we obviously have the upper hand with 10 wins and 7 draws from 22 games.

Last time out at Millmoor was on September 10th 2005.
Following an excellent 4-0 League win over Blackpool in the previous home match, we produed another outstanding performance and came away with a comfortable 3-0 victory over the Gills.
Paul McLaren, Deon Burton and Matin Butler all netted second half goals to lift Rotherham into 5th place in League One.

Gillingham's last victory here came in March 2005, as goals from Michael Flynn, Mamady Sidibe and Darius Henderson were enough to beat The Millers who had equalised early in the second half through Martin Butler.
Both sides were relegated from The Championship that season.

Probably the most famous game against The Gills came in October 2002.
Millmoor and it's fans were rocked to hear before the game that it was to be manager Ronnie Moore's last in charge and he was due to become George Burley's successor at Ipswich Town.
After the 1-1 draw, (The match that day was almost irrelevant) Moore came on the pitch, invaded by now by hundreds of fans begging him to stay, to apparently say his 'Goodbyes', only to discover that the call from Ipswich was all an hoax.
A lot of Millers fans put this day down as the beginning of the end for Ronnie Moore at Millmoor and things were never quite the same here again.

Apart from the 2005 3-0 win, Rotherham have only matched that winning margin once before against Gillingham.
This was on Saturday 28th April 1984, as goals from Alan Birch 2 and Tony Simmons saw the Millers begin a end of season run-in of 5 wins in 6 games to ease off fears from relegation to Division 4.
