Sharps - Stick With Us Plea To Fans

Rotherham United defender, Ian Sharps, today spoke to Millersworld about the defeat on Saturday at Yeovil.

'It was a narrow defeat,' he said, 'and that seems to have been the case for the last few weeks. It was disappointing but I don't think the cutting edge was there at either end. We conceded a goal from a set piece again - we just didn't deal with it. But I thought we had a good go in the second half and were unlucky not to get a point. Yeovil were in a panic towards the end.'

Onto next Saturday's final home game of the season against Cheltenham Town, 'It would be nice to go out on a win,' Sharps said, 'the fans deserve it.'

He said he hopes to be here next season as he has a year left of his contract. 'I would like to help put right next year what went wrong this.

'The position we are in is disappointing - we had our sights set higher. I don't think losing Will (Hoskins) and Lee (Williamson) was the cause - yes, they are good players but we replaced them with good players too. We had seventeen games with only one win, which didn't help.'

'I have one things to say to the fans and that's stick with us and, hopefully, next year will be better than this.'
