April 24th in Millers history

Just 1 defeat in the last 7 games on April 24th over recent years, but a poor record overall.

Last time out was 3 years ago and an action packed draw at Coventry City.
The game saw a Shaun Barker goal dis-allowed and Mike Pollitt saving a penalty from former Millers trialist Gary McSheffrey.
Andy Morrell opened the scoring for the Sky Blues after 56 minutes, but the Millers grabbed a vital point on 75 through Martin Butler.

The last victory came in the promotion season of 2000-01.
A pivotal game that season in our quest for promotion to League one came at Kenilworth Road, Luton.
On a quagmire of a pitch, 1,800 travelling Millers saw Mark Robins beat the offside trap after 76 minutes to pick up a pass from Stewart Talbot, Robbo' slid the ball across the face of the goal for Chris Sedgewick to hit the only goal of the game at the far post.
The Millers fans went wild, as did Hatter's manager Joe Kinnear who was sent off for protesting and had to suffer the walk of shame past the Rotherham fans packed into the away end.
Luton were relegated and Rotherham were set up for one of Millmoor's all time great games 4 days later v Brentford.

Other recent wins on April 24th came in 2000 as a 2-0 Millmoor win over Cheltenham set up another promotion head to head for the Millers at Hartlepool.
Darren Garner (11 mins) and Jason White (83) scored the goals which beat Cheltenham.

Also a 2-1 win at Brighton in 1993 gave Rotherham their first win in 8 and severly dampened Brighton's play-off hopes.
Second half goals coming from Albion's Kurt Nogan, with Chris Wilder (Penalty) and Des Hazel settling the match for The Millers.

The original date for the Luton game was February 3rd but it was called of early Saturday morning (we got to junction 29 when we heard the announcement, so we were cheesed off but it could've been worse). However if it wasn't for that postponement we would never have had the fantastic day at Luton in April. Funny how things work out.
