'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Millers Tribute to Ball

All matches in the Football League and Premier League will start with a minute's applause for World Cup Winner Alan Ball, who died on Tuesday evening, to celebrate his life and football achievements.

Andy Williamson, the League's Chief Operating Officer, said 'This is sad news for everyone in the game. Alan made an enormous contribution to League football as a player and a manager and his part in English football's proudest day will live long in memory. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with his family.

'Having a minutes applause at every game this weekend will give all supporters the opportunity to pay their own tribute.'
