'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Robins on Local Radio

Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, has been speaking on Radio Sheffield tonight after signing up two key players this week.

'We have to invest in youth,' he said, 'they are an integral part of the team. Stephen Brogan has done very well this season and Ryan Taylor has a hell of a lot of potential it was a shame his season was cut short due to illness and injury.

'But we need to bring in some more experienced players and we will be working hard over the summer. We hope to be talking to one or two people and hope they will come to us.

'I have had a talk with Eugen Bopp but it was really just to check on his injury but he is interested in coming back.

'We have a budget and it's obvious it's going to be different from last season. You are never happy with what you have but people are working very hard at the club to keep it on an even keel. It's going to take a lot of time, effort and work this summer but I am prepared to do that.

'We are looking for someone to come in and head the youth and I am also fairly close to naming a number two - maybe even next week.

'There is a bit of work to do and at the end of the season I am going to sit down with the players and talk contracts.

'There is a plan in place. We have to focus and re-double our efforts and hopefully come straight back up. We want to tell our supporters we will be working our socks off to get things right next season.'

See fergie has rubbed off on him. I only hope he gets enough time and your chairman and suporters are patient.

So do we gunnerb - I personally feel that the last two managers were not given enough time at the helm - I would like to see Robbo given at least three seasons cos I think that's how long it will take to turn the club around
