Vital Ed's Questions

Vital Ed's Questions

1 What is your name and which club do you support and how long have you supported them?

Hughes Da Man (or HDM to friends), the site editor of Vital Blackburn. Had an interest in Rovers since the 1990-1991 season, mainly beginning when Rovers held (the then mighty!) Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park in the FA Cup, Rovers SHOULD have won but old rubberneck Ian Rush denied them.

2 Did your team do as well as you expected this season?

In some ways I say no, in others yes, so on the whole I would have to say pretty much yes.

3 What was the most disappointing thing for you this season?

Not having more to show for our season's efforts. Our more often than not top class football (which isn't always recognised) probably deserved an automatic UEFA Cup place or AT LEAST an FA Cup Final appearance.

4 What was the best part of the season for you?

I've enjoyed a lot of it but making the last 32 of the UEFA Cup was VERY pleasing, our best ever showing in Europe and finally erased the memories of Trelleborg (among others!)

5 Which player for your team this season could you not have done without?

Some would say Benni McCarthy, and arguable rightly so. Others would say Ryan 'the Admiral' Nelsen (better known as God!) and we missed him BIG time when he was out injured or David Bentley (our Player of the Season) but for me it's Brad Friedel. Sure, not the Player of the Season but without him we would have lost A LOT more games than we did, not drawn others we had and probably not won a lot of the tight games we had.

6 Which player would you gladly get rid off?

Sorry Dom, but Dominic Matteo… and we did!

7 What was the best game you saw this season?

Blackburn beating Basel 3-0 was a good game; we dominated a team with a European pedigree. But even though we lost the Chelsea FA Cup Semi Final probably.

8 Where do you expect to see your club finish next season? Do you expect them to win anything?

Back challenging the top six for sure, and we can if players stay and stay fit! I don't expect us to win anything but would hope we could.

9 If you could have any one player to join your team who would it be?

As good as Brad Friedel is I think Petr Cech is the best, but as conceding too many goals isn't our problem. There are probably loads I would like but with just the one I would say Stevie Gerrard.

10 What's your favourite tipple?

ANYTHING!

Thanks a lot HDM for taking time out to answer our questions.

Nice one HDM (proof that he does indeed have friends!! lol) although I expect Rovers to get to A final next season, 3 semi finals in 3 years and bugger all to show for it bar the programme and the stud marks isn't good enough really
