'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Local Boy on joining Millers

Rotherham United have today signed local boy, Dale Tonge from Barnsley.

Tonge who hails from Bolton-on-Dearne told the Official Site that he was really excited to be here

'I met the gaffer and John Breckin yesterday,' the twenty-two year old said, 'and they had some positive things to say.

'I have signed a two year contract and I feel confident that the club can go straight back up. There's a buzz about the place amongst all the staff and I'm sure it's a club that's going to be on the up this coming season.

'I've been at Barnsley since I was eleven, going through the academy and I played in the promotion season two years ago and in the Championship last year so I feel I have had some good experience.

'I know Mark Robins expects his team to play good football and it was the gaffer's enthusiasm that attracted me and I am very optimistic that the club can get promotion. The team is quite young but there is some experience there too.

'I am looking forward to the pre-season training. It's a new start for me and let's hope we can go onto bigger and better things.'

Tonge played for Barnsley fifteen times in the Championship last season and was also at loan at Gillingham.
