'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - 'Irons in the Fire'

Rotherham United fans were expecting an exodus after getting relegated at the end of last season, instead, it has been more like trickle as the stragglers are still dragging their feet over 'shall I, shan't I' stay.

This week Eugen Bopp has joined Crewe and Martin Woods will be leaving too, seemingly now being followed by Delroy Facey. The uncertainty over Pablo Mills, Richie Partridge and Justin Cochrane must be making life quite difficult for manager Mark Robins as he tries to get a squad sorted for next season.

But Robins told The Advertiser, 'I'm not going to bring people in just for the sake of it. We've made phone calls and we have one or two irons in the fire. I have to work within the constraints of my budget, but there is also possibilities of bringing in loan players.

'I have to bear in mind that one or two players can still leave.

'My immediate priorities are a central midfielder and a number two goalkeeper. I need players who are fit at this moment and can hit the ground running.

'I have to get the right mix of youth and experience. The lads I have brought in so far have varying experience but most have had success in the lower divisions and they all have a point to prove.

'They are hungry and can't wait for pre-season to start. And that is what we want.'
