'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC No Smoking Policy

Rotherham United, along with every other League Club in the country, has banned smoking at the ground as from the beginning of next season says the Official Site.

The League held talks with all clubs after the Championship clubs took the first initiative to ban smoking in the confines of their stadiums. It also took into account views expressed by more than 43,000 fans who took part in the Football League Supporters Survey 2006 - where more than 80% wanted the introduction of some form of 'smoke free' policy at matches.

Lord Mawhinney, the Leagues new 'smoke free'policy Chairman, said, 'In re-branding the football league, we have made a serious, long-term commitment to encourage a new generation of supporters to our matches and this is the latest stage of the process.

'We aim to get more families and more young fans going along to watch their local Football League club. This policy will ensure that doing so does not have a negative effect on their health.'
