RUFC - Robins 'fairly satisfied'

Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, has told the Official Site that he was 'fairly satisfied' with yesterday's game against Altrincham.

'We have been working on mainly attacking play and haven't done anything defensively, so far,' Robins said. 'Saying that, we have got to be able to cope with the sort of thing defensively that happened today and we have had one or two words about it. It shouldn't happen again.

'Today was a fitness exercise and there was pleasing stuff going forward - it was as good as I have seen for a long time. We just need to fine tune it.

'It's early days and we have good footballers at the club and they now have to roll up their sleeves and do the ugly stuff. We need to be more aggressive and go and win the ball. At the moment we have players who are still feeling their way around. It will come.

'We have to tighten up in defence and we are looking for more in terms of clearing the ball at set pieces again. It is something for us to work on.

'Graham Coughlan is a little behind with his fitness but nothing to worry about.

'Going forward we looked a threat for the whole ninety minutes. Marc Newsham and Derek Holmes linked well together, though Marc will do that with anyone he plays with - he's an intelligent footballer.

'I was pleased with our attacking play but defensively we need some work.'

Maybe the jigsaw isn't quite as finished as we thought?
