'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Marc Newsham

Rotherham United's Youth Policy has produced some good players over the last couple of seasons, none less than striker Marc Newsham, who managed to work his way into the first team at the back end of last season and score three goals.

'I'm twenty now,' the striker told The Advertiser, 'and I really should be pushing on. I'm not a tall player but I'm nippy and I look forward to playing with the big lads like Chris O'Grady, Derek Holmes and Ryan Taylor.

'There is a lot of team banter and morale is high here - as a team we have to get into good habits but we will learn.

'In training we've been working on our attacking play and it's starting to come off. Personally, I thought I looked pretty sharp in pre-season.'

Talking about the new season and life in League Two he said, 'The gaffer has told us it's not a league for pretty football and we have to get in there and work on the second balls. But we've worked hard in training.

'I would like to think we can bounce straight back.

'I'm looking forward to getting going.'
