'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Hursty Goes For It

Rotherham United's stalwart defender, Paul Hurst is just fourteen short of becoming the top of the Millers 'all-time appearance' table.

This is the diminutive defenders fifteenth season as a Miller and, after a knee injury last season, he is now back to full fitness and is hoping to write himself into the history books.

'To top the appearance list would be an honour and a privilege,' he told The Advertiser, 'If I'd been fit last season I would like to think I could have got close to it.'

The person Hursty has to beat is legend Danny Williams who played inside forward in the late 40's/early 50's and who turned down clubs like Arsenal and Leicester to stay with the Millers. He also managed the team from 1962-65 and older people will remember he had a sports shop in the town centre after his football career ended.

The number of appearances Hursty has to better is 492 - here's hoping, in the not too distant future, we will be reading an article on here about him doing just that.

HURSTY'S PLAYED PRETTY WELL IN PRE-SEASON, I CAN'T SEE HIM NOT GETTING THE 14 GAMES HE NEEDS FOR THE RECORD....AND WELL DESERVED TOO.

He has played like a new player during the friendlies - maybe it's having a lot on youngsters around him that's helped. I hope he does it.
