RUFC - Andy Warrington

Rotherham United's goalkeeper, Andy Warrington, has told The Advertiser, that as soon as Mark Robins showed an interest in him there was only one club he wanted to join.

Warrington, thirty one, (though he admits, with his greying hair, he looks older) was sidelined with a broken leg before going on loan to Bury last season. Bury actually offered him a contract but he said when Robins called he drove straight over and had signed within a day.

'Growing up in the city next door, therefore being a local lad, was a factor in me joining the Millers but the challenge of getting this team back into League One was important.

'Rotherham are a big team in League Two, with a great fan base and a fantastic playing area and things will be even better when the new stand is completed. There are plenty of players in the squad who have done well at League One level and if we do get straight back up it can only bode well for next season.

'If we get a good start I am sure we will do well this season.'

On himself, Warrington says 'I am good at organising the back four, communicating and shot stopping.'

'The fans have had a couple of seasons here when things haven't gone right and it would be nice to stick a few smiles on their faces again.'
