'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Handout not enough

Rotherham United's Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas, has told The Advertiser, that he doesn't consider the solidarity package given to the lower leagues from the Premier League is enough.

The £90m package is to be spread out over the next three years so that top-level income is distributed down the Football League pyramid.

The first year will see League Two clubs get £68,987 and Mr Douglas said, 'I suppose we should be grateful and to some extent we have won the argument by saying it is only by looking after the smaller clubs that keeps the Premiership as strong as it is.

'With all the money that's in the top level of the game, we don't think enough is being filtered down. But, we have to be grateful for what we get and what the Football League is able to get for us.'
