RUFC - Head to Head - v Quakers

Rotherham United go into Saturday's game with Darlington looking for a 4th straight win in this fixture at Millmoor.

The three wins all came in our last sabatical in the bottom division just prior to the turn of the last century.

Last time out was a narrow 2-1 win a week before Christmas in 1999.

Darlington had leapfrogged Rotherham in midweek after a 2-1 home win v Chester took them into 2nd place, and things didn't look too good for the Millers when winger Trevor Berry put the ball into his own net after 56 minutes to give Darlington the lead.

However Jason White levelled matters with just 8 minutes to go, and in the 88th minute hit home the winner to put The Millers back into 2nd, just 3 points adrift of leaders Barnet.

The attendance was 4,234.

In the previous season, The Millers won the 3 points with a 3-1 victory in October 1998.

Darlington were leaders of Division 3 coming into this game and took the lead after 7 minutes through veteran striker Carl Shutt, but Rotherham had promotion asperations of their own and were leading by half-time.

A 22nd minute goal from Paul Dillon levelled things and a penalty from Lee Glover on 42 sent the 4,004 crowd into the break happy.

lover added a second penalty 3 minutes from time to push the Millers up into 4th place, while The Quakers slipped to third.

In January 1998 Rotherham won this fixture a lot more comfortably with a 3-0 win over Darlington who were struggling at the wrong end of the table in 19th.

The Millers took the lead early doors in front of 3,877 through a 5th minute effort from Shaun Goodwin, who was starting his last first team game at Millmoor after his long career with the Millers.

Jason White doubled the scoreline on 39 minutes as Rotherham went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

White them claimed his second a minute from time and Rotherham jumped from 5th to 3rd in Division 3.

Prior to these 3 games Rotherham had a torrid time v Darlington at Millmoor, failing to win a League game out of 7 attempts since 1949.

Here's to making it 4 on the trot come Saturday.
