RUFC - Rent Row Silence

Rotherham United's call to the owners of Millmoor, the Booth family, to have 'clear the air' talks has, so far, reached a stoney silence.

'The silence is deafening,' Giles Brearley, financial director, told The Advertiser. 'The only league club to be paying more rent than us is Bradford City.'

Mr Brearley spoke to director's from Chester City last weekend at Millmoor and found out that they are paying over £2,000 less rent per month than the Millers - on a ground that is only ten years old (and presumabley fully built)- and their lease says they are only required to do internal repair and Mr Brearley said, 'it really drives home the unfairness of the situation here at Millmoor, when you think we are responsible for all the internal and structural repairs. We really need to come to a more favourable agreement.'

Last month Mr Brearley said that he believed Rotherham Borough Council had gone cool on the idea of buying the ground and doing the much needed modernisation but has said that the club are seeking more talks with them.

Denis Coleman, Chairman, had said that the club was 'actively working' of finding a site for a new stadium but such a project would have to be funded by the public and private sector monies.

I am at a loss why the Booth family, the head being ex chairman Ken Booth, refuse to talk to the present board. After all, talking costs nothing
