RUFC Chairman in almost quit storm

Rotherham United Chairman, Denis Coleman has told The Advertiser that he became so frustrated that he felt like quitting the club.

The adoration he got from the people of Rotherham last year as he, and the rest of the board, stepped in to save the club has been replaced with grumbles and complaints about how the club is being run.

Mr Coleman admits there are areas where himself and the board need to 'sharpen up' but he believes much of the criticism is undeserved.

'The board are putting a lot of time and energy into running this club and keeping it going,' Mr Coleman said, 'and when I hear supporters having a go it is very disappointing.

'There will always be rumours, but half of them are not even worth responding too. I can only imagine that the people who make up these stories have nothing better to do with their time.

'I have felt so strongly about it over the last eighteen months that I wonder, is it worth it?

'It is only my pride and the love of Rotherham United that stop me from walking away.'

New allegations that the club are in financial difficulties again were quashed when the Chairman revealed that the club hope to break even by the end of the financial year.

'I am not having a go at most of our supporters, as they have an understanding of what we inherited here and appreciate that we are doing our best but I do feel we have not had enough backing from the people of Rotherham.

'For instance, we organised a Gordon Banks evening at the Rotherham United Suite with all proceeds going to the club. Only two Rotherham Supporters bought tickets. There were more people from Sheffield at the do and that, frankly, is disgraceful.

'All the negative vibes going around at the moment is not helping anyone and we need to pull together and start thinking positively.

'We need to get this club moving in the right direction again.'

Thing is, the Gordon Banks evening wasn't advertised very well. Actually, none of the events at the Suite are advertised very well in my opinion. If I do see that any are going to be organised I do try and tell vital readers about it. But, an email from the club would be a big help in this and I could get an article done for the home page about it and try and rally the troops so to speak. Frankly, the PR has been terrible for some time at the club. And rumours get started because there is nothing coming out of the club (well that and a couple of idiots who think it's funny to start them)

Millers Suffer Five-Nil Loss

Rotherham United are still looking for their first win on the road after getting a five-nil drubbing this afternoon in South Wales by Cardiff City.

After a scrappy opening to the game the first action of the half on eleven minutes saw the hosts take the lead when Millers' 'keeper Richard O'Donnell could do nothing to stop a superb curling shot by Kadeem Harris hit the back of the net. Minutes later a ball into the box found Sean Morrison but as he rose to head the ball he clattered into O
