RUFC - Commercially Sound
Rotherham United Chairman, Denis Coleman has admitted to The Advertiser that there has been problems with the Commercial Department at Millmoor but it is still in a healthier position than it was when he and the present board took over.
'When we came in,' Mr Coleman says, 'there was no revenue coming from the tea bars, the club shop or the Suite. There were boards in the ground that hadn't been paid for years - one company's board, on the corner of the Railway End roof had gone bust four years previously and it was still up there in a prominent position.
'All these things are now in place and are bringing income into the club.
'Yes, we still have a lot of work to do but things are healthier. We are trying to bring in people but we haven't found the right sort of formula yet.
'There is less staff but the structue we hope to have in place fairly soon will be optimal in terms of the numbers we can afford to have and the jobs they will need to do.
'The key thing is that if someone rings with an enquiry, someone will get back to them within twenty-four hours.
'And, we are not sitting and waiting for those enquiries, we are going out knocking on doors, sending e mails, making phone calls looking for them.'
