RUFC - The Chairman speaks

Rotherham United Chairman, Denis Coleman has opened his heart out to The Advertiser this week, and answered some questions that fans have been mulling over for the last few weeks.

New Stadium?

'I have just started work on a feasibility study of how a new stadium could be financed. I am talking with people from the council and other clubs and the ongoing talks are positive. There should be more information in the next few months.'

Rift in the Board?

'Absolute rubbish! Oh, our meetings are robust and we discuss topics on the understanding that a decision will be reached that we all agree on. We have a brilliant relationship and a healthy exchange of views which is the only way you can do it. As from day one, this board is UNITED'

New Investors?

'Although we are constantly trying to find new investors, while we are in the situation we are in here, no one is interested. At the moment no one is coming forward to invest although plenty of people have said if we move grounds or get ownership of Millmoor they would be interested. We will have to wait and see how genuine they are.'

Can We Afford the Rent?

The club have to pay a rent of £16,000 per month to the owners but the Chairman said, 'There has never been a problem with us meeting the rent. We missed one payment and got taken to court by the owners. It was paid into the court but we are now back to paying it through the normal channels, even though it is at a high rate.'

On the Legal situation with the Owners

'We have more pressing issues to think about at the moment.'
