'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Robins Post Barnet

Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, used the words 'inept and disappointing' about his side's second half perfomance yesterday.

The Millers lost away to Barnet, two-nil and the manager told the Official Site that he didn't think the team had turned up for the second half.

'There is not a lot I can say to defend our second half performance,'he said, 'after controlling the first half it was very disappointing.

'In the first half we were creating the chances but not geting the ball in the back of the net.

'After the break we never got near anybody. It's very difficult to change it when it's like that. We got pulled about a lot today - we have to get better. We stood off and let them play and they got in our faces. We have to be more like that. The defending for the first goal was poor. We tried to step up and play off side and we don't do that. The penalty was a disappointment.

'I honestly thought we could come to Underhill and play, pass the ball and in the first half we did.

'I'm not going to dwell on what went wrong in this game - it's done, it's over and we have to put it down to experience. But we can't have another second half like that.

On the good front, the manager thought Ryan Cresswell had an encouraging debut and did a decent job.

'We are going to be without Marc Joseph for a while with a virus and Danny Harrison went down on Thursday with a knee ligament problem and, although Dale Tonge went in there and did OK, I still think we are a bit light in that position.

'It's back to the drawing board now and the game on Tuesday, against Macclesfield, becomes really important.'
