RUFC - Head to Head v Mansfield

To say that Millmoor is a bogey ground for Mansfield Town in League games is a vast understatement.
Over the 28 Football League meetings since the first in 1932, the Stags have won just twice.

However the last time out was the second of these victories as Mansfield won by 3 goals to 2.
This game took place in March 2000 as the Millers were heading towards promotion from Division 3.
The Sky cameras were present as League leaders Rotherham soon found themselves 2-0 down from goals by future Millers player Michael Boulding on 8 minutes and Chris Greenacre after 14.
Millers winger Chris Sedgewick pulled back the deficit on 35 minutes and the Stags went into the break with a narrow 1 goal lead.
Unfortunately for Rotherham, Darell Clarke re-established Mansfield's 2 goal lead after 65 minutes and despite Sedgewick adding his second 4 minutes later, the Stags held on to take all 3 points.

Prior to this meeting came 2 draws in 1998, and you have to go back 15 years to find the last Rotherham win at Millmoor.
Mansfield arrived at Millmoor on October 31st 1992 sitting in 21st position in Division 2 after winning just 3 of their first 13 League games that season.
Rotherham however were newly promoted and sat just outside the play off places in 7th off the back of a 6 game unbeaten run of 4 wins and 2 draws.
Playing in his 3rd game of a month loan spell from Barnsley was former Nottingham Forest and Middlesborough striker David Currie, and he helped himself to a first half goal which was his first in Rotherham colours.
Another former Barnsley player, midfielder Ian Banks scored a second after the break and as the game finished 2-0, Rotherham went into the last play off place.

Another famous victory over the Stags came in March 1975 as Rotherham celebrated the start of the Easter weekend with a 2-1 win over the Division 4 leaders who had only been beaten 3 times previously that campaign.
11,669 saw goals from Trevor Womble and Dick Habbin take the 2 points which helped the Millers win promotion laer that season.
Former Spurs forward Ray Clarke replied for Mansfield with his 25th goal of the season.

Despite poor recent performances, this surely must be a Millers win.
